How to Design Email Signatures in Canva

Use Canva to design beautiful email signatures — then learn why HTML templates are actually better.

Designing a Signature in Canva

  1. Open Canva and search for "email signature" in templates
  2. Choose a template or start with a custom size (600×200px recommended)
  3. Add your name, title, phone, email, and website
  4. Upload your logo and/or headshot
  5. Adjust colours to match your brand
  6. Download as PNG (high quality) or JPEG

The Problem with Image-Based Signatures

While Canva signatures look great in the design tool, they have significant drawbacks as email signatures:

❌ Not Clickable

A Canva signature is one flat image. Recipients can't click your phone number, email, or website links.

❌ Blocked by Email Clients

Many email clients block images by default. Your entire signature disappears — replaced by a broken image icon.

❌ Not Accessible

Screen readers can't read text in images. Your signature is invisible to visually impaired recipients.

❌ Spam Filters

Emails with large image attachments are more likely to trigger spam filters. Your emails may not get delivered.

The Better Alternative

Use Canva to design your banner image or logo — that's where it excels. Then use a proper HTML email signature for the rest of your signature. Our templates combine both:

  • HTML text for name, title, phone, email (always visible, always clickable)
  • Your Canva-designed logo/banner as an inline image
  • Social icons as clickable links
  • Responsive layout that works on mobile

🎨 Best of both worlds: Design your banner in Canva, then use our professional HTML templates for the full signature. Clickable, accessible, and beautiful.
